How and where to announce new releases?

The release itself is done on sourceforge. It includes release notes and the changelog (copy-pasted from the one in CVS). An item automatically appears under http://sourceforge.net/new/, but I don't think this will reach many people, given the number of releases every day. It is an option to write a news item on the Nice project: a few are selected by people and put on the main website. There is also the Java foundry, where news items can be submitted.

I'll add Nice as a project on freshmeat.

Lambda the Ultimate is a good place to announce Nice (major releases only), or to discuss a new feature. Is there a LtU regular who would like to be in charge of this?

Newsgroups: anybody using these? (comp.lang.???).

Other places?

We could also probably keep here a text that could be used for the announces. One part could be general information about Nice. Another would be specific for each release. All this could of course be edited for each announce to adapt it to the audience.
